This version of Pyramid Head's iconic helmet is from the 2006 movie. Made on budget, it is constructed almost entirely of foam core board and miscellaneous items purchased from the hardware store. A small scale mock-up was first made using poster board to work out the overall dimensions of the shape. The mock-up was then broken down into each separate side of the pyramid and scaled up into full size templates. From these the base structure was made from pieces of foam core board which were glued together. Silicone caulk was used to fill the seams between the sides and to create a "welded bead" effect in certain areas. All details were then added using cut dowels, vacuum hose, and modified plumbing hardware. Once construction was complete it was given several coats of textured primer to create the look of aged metal. Weathering was then achieved entirely with acrylic paints.
